The Library is a resource for nearly any informational need a person might have. We have books in regular print and large print available as well as books on CD, Digital books and DVDs. All of these items and more are available for check out for three weeks at a time, free of charge to residents of Minnesota. Beyond loaning items, the library is a great resource for social events. We have monthly book club meetings the third Thursday of every month and frequently host author visits and educational programs.
The East Central Regional Transportation Coordinating Council (ECTRCC) is an initiative of the East Central Regional Development Commission (ECRDC) serving the counties of Pine, Isanti, Chisago, Kanabec, and Mille Lacs through a grant from MnDOT. ECRTCC, along with our many partners, is working to serve our region’s transportation needs such as filling gaps in service, streamlining services, and providing further options for those traveling. We know that filling out the SNAP Outreach (formerly Food Stamps) application can be confusing. Our trained staff will make sure that all the required information is submitted correctly the first time, and help people get the benefits they are eligible for as soon as possible. We can also help when it’s time to recertify for SNAP.

Staff consists of experienced hospice nurses who put the needs of the patient first, and care staff who go through an extensive hiring and training process. We are a state-wide rehabilitation agency that provides in-home services to seniors who are experiencing a wide range vision conditions. The services are designed to assist seniors learn new ways to maintain their independence despite vision loss. We can provide magnification devices, tactile devices, talking devices, computer/cell phone training, in-home daily living skills training and Orientation & Mobility (white cane) training. Services are taxpayer funded and come at no cost to the consumer. We do not collect income information or Social Security information. One does not need to be blind. A person is eligible if they are 55 years of age or older, not working or seeking employment and who despite the best corrective glasses they can get, they still can’t read regular print.
Lakes and Pines’ MNSure trained and certified navigators are in each county on a regular basis to provide free face to face application and enrollment assistance into health coverage through the MNSure marketplace.

We distribute food to nearly 1,000 partners in our 59-county service area. We also provide assistance with Federal Nutrition Programs, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and NAPS (Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors). We work to remove barriers and make benefits accessible to all eligible community members by providing program awareness, application assistance, and submission and follow-up during the process.

Chisago County Public Health is able to provide low-cost immunization services to adults 19 years and older that meet one of the following criteria: 1). Do not have any health insurance and 2). Have health insurance, but their plan does not cover the cost of needed vaccines. NeMost standard vaccines are available by appointment and for a flat $10 fee. However, no one is refused service due to inability to pay.

Veterans Services are provided through Chisago County Health and Human Services on the main floor of the Government Center. We provide guidance and assistance to veterans, their spouse / survivors and dependents. We are here to help you apply for veterans benefits as provided by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
In addition, we provide transportation to the VA Health Care System – Minneapolis and the VA Health Care System – St. Cloud to those in need of this service. We also provide referrals to a variety of other public and private programs and work closely with veterans organizations concerning programs and changes.
